Florida Crown Goes to Jekyll Island Club for Sunday Brunch

On May 15 Florida Crown celebrated Spring with a drive to the Jekyll Island club for another visit to their famed brunch.   We gathered early in the morning and after the legalities and announcements the group charged forward along the river and the commercial ships which gave way to the kite surfers enjoying the Atlantic Ocean.   A short time later we met the  rest of our PCA members waiting for us at the Harris Teeter parking lot on Amelia Island.  Longtime member Dave Seaman in his new Guards Red Boxster S led us through the wooded canopy draped with moss past the Fernandina Beach Airport.  Those waiting for the traffic to clear left turn stop sign were treated to a private jet taxi and take off.  Oh I wish we were rich….I digress.   The ride off the island was then diverted to Paige’s Dairy road instead of the stop/go that makes in A1A in Yulee where we picked up RT 17 that led us on the backroads until our destination at the Jekyll Island Club.   Good news!  All of us managed to avoid an intimate visit with the many fine officers of Georgia’s police force.  Oh yes, they were out with all sorts of detection devices on Sunday!   I digress again…The nice folks at the club let us park on the lawn for all to enjoy the German eye candy gleaming in the South Georgia sun.   After an amazing meal, most of us took a short tour of the island to get our $6.00 worth of “parking fee.”    All in all, the reason we own Porsches and why we live in this part of the country presented itself to us and we took advantage of it.   It was a good day.  A good day indeed.
